Groups range from 5-8 students and are cofacilitated by Mrs. Smeltzer, Mrs. Ammon, and Ms. Wilkinson. Our goal is to teach children who have more difficulty grasping the concepts of social language, social behavior, and relating to peers the skills necessary to improve their interpersonal communication and friendship skills. We meet for 30 minutes per week and some of the topics we will teach include: staying on-topic, initiating/maintaining conversation, expected vs. unexpected social behaviors, problem solving a conflict or challenge, interpreting body language, and working in a group. Students will have the opportunity to sharpen their skills through video modeling, role-plays, discussions, and cooperative activities.
